The first club that Touré signed for of any note was Olympiacos back in 2005 where he was described by locals and mainly his older brother Kolo Touré “the new Patrick Vieira” which of course is a mouth-watering prospect. Touré only played there for one season, he was one of the main players and granted him his move to Monaco. Touré start to his career at Monaco didn’t start well as the manager Boloni wouldn’t play him in his preferred position, but he was sacked and Touré become an influential player during the second half of the season and established himself as one of the most wanted players in Europe.

Touré joined Spanish giants Barcelona for €10 million in 2007 after his impressive 2006 World Cup. Touré was part of the era in which Barcelona were possibly at their strongest, with many naming the 2007-2010 era (the period in which Touré was at Barcelona) as the most impressive era. However, it did start to end bitter during his time at Barcelona as Pep Guardiola preferred Sergio Busquets in the defensive role of Barcelona’s midfield trio and Touré did a shift a centre back but ultimately knew that this was the end of his Barcelona career.

In 2010, Touré probably made the best move of his career as he joined Manchester City for a reported £24 million which went on to be one of the best transfers in City’s history. Touré was part of the squad in which won Manchester City’s first ever Premier League title back in 2012 and then went on to win in twice more during his career in Manchester. Touré will go down in history as one of the best Premier League defenders of all time.
