'Class is permanent' – Manchester City fans hail Yaya Toure after comeback goals

A two-goal return for the Ivory Coast international sent Twitter into overdrive, with City fans questioning their manager’s decision to overlook the midfielder

Yaya Toure started his first Premier League game for Manchester City under Pep Guardiola, and did so in style with two goals, delighting his legion of fans on Twitter.

Toure hits double on comeback

The Ivory Coast international played 32 times for City last season, but had so far been unable to force his way into Guardiola’s plans.

However, Twitter believes that could all be about to change, saying that his return is ‘a title-winning move’:

Yaya Toure scores on his Manchester City comeback. Class is permanent.

Bringing Yaya Toure back is a title winning move, seriously, he’s that good.

Yaya Toure is running a bit like he’s just woken from being frozen in carbonite. Which, actually, he might have.

Yaya Toure is King. Give him a year contract extension, Pep.

I read some tweets saying Yaya Toure scoring silenced his critics. His only critic is Pep. We all know he’s a good player.

The disrespect Yaya Toure received from a club he’s served for so long and with so much was disgraceful.
His comeback has been great.
