Thohir: Inter will do everything to get Yaya Toure

The midfielder’s agent has hinted his client will leave Manchester City at the end of the season, with the Serie A side reiterating their interest

Inter president Erick Thohir has made it clear the club will do everything in their power to sign Manchester City star Yaya Toure this summer.

The midfielder has been tipped to leave the Etihad ever since he fell out with the club a year ago over their failure to acknowledge his birthday.

Toure celebrated his 32nd birthday on Wednesday, with City this time remembering his special day with a personal message on Twitter.

However, that alone might not be enough to keep him at the club, with Inter set to step up their interest over the coming weeks ahead of a summer recruitment drive.

“It’s true, we want to Toure. How likely? I do not know, but it is certain that we will do everything to get him, ” Thohir told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Inter boss Roberto Mancini, who coached Toure during his time in charge at City, also revea;ed that the pair still enjoy a friendship away from football after sending him a birthday message.

“Did I send a text message to Yaya? Of course, I always do.”

Toure has a contract at City until June 2017 and is expected to cost considerably less than the €33 million the Premier League side paid to sign him from Barcelona in 2010.

However, Inter’s financial muscle could be restricted after they were fined €6 million and handed a series of sanctions for breaking Financial Fair Play rules last week.
